On June 25th Talib rocked out for a great cause. Stopping the genocide in Darfur. Here is how you can help.
Last night Immortal Technique brought the 3rd world heat with him to Fat Beats. I am not talking about the album either. It was hot like the subway seat heat in the summer time. Not withstanding the loyal fans came out. By the way SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL RECORD SHOPS! Download the fip fop (fake hip hop) and purchase some vinyl for your collection. Fat Beats is one of the last strong hold for the real. Immortal Technique will be at the Highline Ballroom tonight.
Last Wednesday Digiwaxx had their summer kick off uptown mixer in Harlem. “Politics As Usual” was held at Covo Tratoria on West 135th St. and 12th avenue. Hosted by Aden Seraile (threeKINGS NYC), Alice “Wonderland” Grandoit, Corey “CL” Lewellyn (Digiwaxx), Eb The Celeb, Jesse Kirshbaum (NUE Agency), Nina Flowers (Apollo Theater) a good time was had by all. Cazadores (tequila) sponsored the first hour with free margaritas. Special guest DJ Cassidy and DJ Blaqstarr were in the house.
On Saturday the 14th, in the pouring rain the real party goers splashed around downtown to the Puma store just to get a glance of Estelle performing cuts off her album. FADER magazine and Digiwaxx (the people who break records) throw a mean party wet or dry. Angie Martinez and DJ Enuff from Hot97 hosted the event and kept the crowd busy while they waited for Estelle and chugged down Yuengling beer and Tarago tequila. M1 (one half of dead prez), Travis( Gym Class Heroes), Dennis “Da Menace” (Notorious Movie), Rephstar, Patty Dukes, Rah Digga and Charles Anthony were all on the scene soaking up the atmosphere. No pun intended. CL, Kasey, Autumn Marie and Alice from Digiwaxx made sure the evening ran smooth. One of the hottest items at the party was the “glow in the dark” Puma bicycle. If these gas prices get any higher I am getting that bike. Estelle performed a six (6) song set that ended with her hit with Kanye, American Boy. The people loved Estelle’s set and there was barely any room to stand. Until next time peace to all the industry heads who brave the weather for free drinks and live music.
